So, there is not much of a difference between week 1 here in the MTC and week 2. The main difference I'd like to talk about is my testimony, being here and having the opportunity to teach everyday allows the spirit to work in me in a way it has never done before. I'll go into a meeting with an investigator and have no idea what I'm going to say and I get super nervous, but as soon as I shake the investigators hand and say hello those nerves go away and I listen to what they have to say or what they want to hear and then the spirit helps me the rest of the way.
My favorite investigator my companions and I have taught is Jonathon. He grew up Catholic, but as he got older he didn't believe some of the theology they would talk about, so when he was 18 he stopped going to church. He's now in his mid 30's and he wanted to meet with us missionaries because one of his sons died in a car crash and he wanted to know what our views are on the after life. As we met with him a few times we taught him the plan of salvation and one of the things he said just made me feel like what we are doing is the right thing, he said, "I've had so many questions that no one has been able to answer and you guys have answered those questions." He told us that he has met with 8 other pairs of missionaries and that they would just give him the standard read the Book of Mormon and pray to know that it is true, but when we taught him we made it relevant so that he would have the desire to come closer to our Heavenly Father. Through meeting with Jonathon it showed me how this gospel can bless lives. We only met him 3 times, but those 3 times we did I can tell that just talking with us and helping him figure out the questions he's been wanting to know has been able to help him feel that peace and comfort this gospel can bring to families.
On my birthday this Sunday I got chosen out of all the missionaries in our branch to give a talk (go figure) and you guys know how much I enjoy giving talks... but I got to talk about having faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement and when I got up to speak I had no nerves and I could feel the spirit SO STRONG. I love being able to share with people how I felt about our Savior. It honestly was an amazing experience and I kinda like giving talks now... who knew! lol The MTC is still so amazing and I'm constantly learning everyday. Well there isn't too much more to talk about besides that I leave on Tuesday for my mission! I'll continue to keep everyone updated! Love you all
