Hey everybody! So this week started off great! On Tuesday we had ZTM (zone training meeting) and it was all about the doctrine of Christ! The doctrine of Christ is 1. Faith 2. Repentance 3. Baptism 4. Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost 5. Enduring to the end. These five points are the focus of everything we should think, say, and do. One of the things that stuck out to me the most was that missionary work and sharing these points is the most important thing we can do here in mortality. Being a missionary doesn't mean you have to wear a name tag and go around and talk to everyone you see, but to always be an example and always share the doctrine whenever the opportunity arises. Try and be as Christ like as possible and be guided by the Spirit.
After ZTM we blitzed the Potsdam area and that was super sweet! Elder Chidester and I just went ham the whole day and tracted for at least 6 hours and then talked to everyone we possibly could! After that on Tuesday we came back to our area and for 3 days we didn't teach a single lesson. No one wanted to talk to us and so many of our previous investigators we ended up dropping because they weren't progressing at all. I was getting a little discouraged, but Elder Deka and I kept going strong because we knew if we continued to work and show the Lord that we are never gonna quit and just back down from the hard times that He would bless us. Low and behold on Sunday we found this super sweet family Dave and Lisa. They are very religious and they actually have a lot of family that are Mormon and live out in Utah. We taught them and they had a lot of questions and concerns about our faith that ended up being misconceptions and we were able to help them understand that the plain simple truth of the gospel has been restored! They invited us back and I'm so pumped to see them again. That same Sunday we had another super sweet investigator that we ran into and his name is Bill and we gave him a Book of Mormon about a couple weeks ago and we came back and he actually read over 50 pages of it and loved the teachings in it. He told us his story pretty much and the quick summary of it is that he was addicted to pain killers for about 5 years from all these surgeries he had for his shoulder and after we stopped by and gave him the Book of Mormon he said he had the urge to quit taking the pain killers, so he prayed to God and asked for his help and within about 4 days he had no more withdrawals and had no desire to take them anymore. He pretty much bore his testimony on the atonement. I know that the Lord truly has gone through everything we have or will go through and all we have to do is rely on Him and He will help us through those tough times. He lives and His church is on the earth today and I'm so blessed to be able to represent that church.
Well I love you all and I hope you are all having a great week. Remember the Lord loves each of you and that when you feel like no one knows what you are going through that He does. Jesus truly is the savior of the world. Take care everybody.
