It was 75 degrees two days ago and on the day of this picture it is 28 and snowing . . . love the mountains
So this week was super long and we are having a hard time finding some progressing investigators. A lot of the people tend to not keep the commitments and they are just not seeing the importance of what we share and how it can change their life for the better completely. We are continuing to find people and I know it'll only be a matter of time till we will find someone the Lord has prepared for us to see.
These few days I have been thinking about the difference between reading the scriptures, and studying the scriptures. Before my mission I would pretty much just read the scriptures and I mean I still got some stuff out of it, but I wasn't getting as much as I could have through studying. So I broke down studying into 4 points that we can do to benefit from the scriptures more each time we use them. The 1st point is to always start off with a prayer. pretty simple, but the reason is to ask Heavenly Father to help us receive personal revelation and to invite the spirit during this study session. This point is crucial for studying not only the scriptures, but for all aspects of studying. The 2nd point is ponder what you read. After reading a few verses, stop and think about what you just read and think about what is the message or important lesson you can learn from those verses. During this time the 3rd point comes in. It is to write it. This is what I struggled with most, but I now see the importance of it. During the pondering point you will receive ideas (personal revelation) directly from the spirit. You may not think it is from the spirit, but a majority of the time it can be. Heavenly Father wants you to see that what you are reading is true and he will help you to understand and get the most out of the scriptures. The 4th point is to always end with a prayer. The ending prayer should be to thank God for the ability to study the scriptures and for allowing you to receive the revelation of what you just read. I have learned and applied these points to my studies and have received so much more out of it each time. I can promise you that if you do this it will make studying more effective and beneficial for you.
The last thing I wanted to talk about was the habanero challenge Elder Deka and I did today... We ate a whole plain habanero and I hate hot stuff to begin with. At first when I was munching on the pepper it wasn't that hot, but as soon as I swallowed it that's when it kicked in. It sucked so bad and I couldn't breathe and I burped up some and it made it even worse. I drank like half a gallon of milk after and it still didn't cool it down lol. We both decided to never to do that again. The worst part is still to come later tonight... if you know what I mean ;)
Well that's it for this week! I hope everyone is having a good week and seeing the Lord's hand in their life daily. I love you all!
