Don't mess with us. With Sister Baxter
Hey everyone! This week has been so good! We worked super hard and really focused on being out every night from 6-9. I have seen so many blessings in doing it. A blessing is that we picked up about 6 new investigators and one of them named Danny we were able to set a baptism date for October 1st., so that is pretty sweet. One of the biggest blessings is that one of our investigators, Mike, came to church and said he loved it. That was a huge blessing. Binghamton hasn't had an investigator at church for over 6 months, so I know the Lord is blessing us since we are working super hard. Also, with Mike we taught the word of wisdom and he has the desire to quit smoking, but he has been smoking since he was about 8 and he is 71... I asked if he would like a blessing and we explained what it was and he said he would. I gave him a blessing and the spirit was so strong in the room and after he just sat there for a bit just silent and I asked how he felt, and he just said "I am speechless." I love being able to use the priesthood and give the people we teach blessings directly from their Heavenly Father. Please keep Mike in your prayers that he can resist the urge to smoke. I know it will be tough for him, but he knows he will be blessed if he quits and I know through the Lord he can do anything.
We also had another experience that happened yesterday. We decided to walk a lot and just try a bunch of former and potential investigators in one area. We skipped our dinner since we walked about 5 miles from our home. Every single person we tried was not home, but we continued to just work and talk to everyone we saw. The day was coming to a close and we were walking back home when this little kid asked who we were and we explained how we were missionaries for our church. The little kid told us to come talk to his dad, so we did. His dad's name was Chris and we were able to teach him the restoration and we gave him the Book of Mormon and he said he wanted us to come back and share more. I know that since we were working hard and trying all those people, that the Lord placed Chris in our path to bless us. That really strengthened my testimony.
I am so thankful for the gospel and the joy it brings to my life as well as those we share it with. I know that missionary work is vital and that it truly changes lives. I have felt that change in myself. I love you all and hope you have a great week!
